Sermon 09-21-2025 " The Dishonest Message" Rev. Dr. Shawn Armstrong. The Parable of the Shrewd Manager (Luke 16:1-13). The key to security about the things we need is not anxious earning and saving, but trustworthy service and spending. If God can trust us to spend our money to meet the needs of others, then the money we ourselves need will also be provided. ... See MoreSee Less

The pumpkin patch sales support programs of our church, but largely help the Navajo Reservation in New Mexico. These workers are 95% Native American – 30 full time and 600 seasonal workers. Their work has a tremendous impact on a region with a 43% unemployment rate and whose median family income is $20,000 per year.
Our hope is that this will become an annual ministry at Augusta Rd UMC.

Dear Community Partner, 28 August 2025
I am excited to share an upcoming event that Augusta Road United Methodist Church is bringing to our community. Beginning in mid-September, we have partnered with Pumpkins USA to bring over 1,500 pumpkins to our area. They are delivering these pumpkins to ARUMC September 20, 2025 at 4pm.
This will serve as both a fundraiser for our church and a community celebration, featuring a variety of activities every afternoon and evening throughout the week, and all day on Saturdays, continuing through the end of October. This new ministry will support both the Outreach, Witness, and Nurture programs of our church and also aid the Navajo Indian Reservation in New Mexico. These workers are 95% Native American, 30 who are full time staff and 600 who are seasonal workers. Their payroll is over 1 million dollars, and because of this, their work has a tremendous impact on a region that suffers from a 43% unemployment rate and whose median family income is just $20,000 per year.
We would love for you to be a part of this humanitarian relief effort. We are in need of volunteers to help staff the pumpkin patch and are happy to offer service hours for school or community organizations such as Beta Club, FFA, and others. Additionally, we would be delighted to coordinate daytime field trips for school or Sunday school classes. Our church campus includes amenities such as picnic shelters, restrooms, and easy bus access, making it an ideal location for local field trips. These trips can be customized to include pumpkin carving, painting activities, and even pre-painted pumpkins.
On Saturdays, we plan to serve hotdog plates and host a craft booth, creating a vibrant, family-friendly event where the community can gather, shop, and enjoy time together. If you would like to schedule a field trip or if you have children, students or friends in need of service hours (such as for horticulture classes or Beta Club), please contact the church office at the number listed above. We would be honored to support your students while also serving our broader South Greenville community. This is strictly a faith-faith based project which fosters community trust. You trust us and we trust you.
Thank you for your partnership in making South Greenville an even better place to live, learn, and serve. We invite you to share this opportunity with others, keep our church and this event in your prayers, and support us in any way you can. Our contact information is listed above. We look forward to working with you.
Warmly,
Rev. Dr. Shawn G. Armstrong, Pastor ... See MoreSee Less
