Blessing Box & Little Free Library
ARUMC sponsors the Blessing Box and the Little Free Library located at the South Greenville Fire Department at 6305 Augusta Road in Pelzer, across from the church. In the Blessing Box, you will find food and personal items. LEAVE WHAT YOU CAN, TAKE WHAT YOU NEED! Cash donations are also accepted and used to replenish the box. Our Little Free Library is stocked with books for all ages. TAKE A BOOK, LEAVE A BOOK!
Salkehatchie Summer Service Mission
Salkehatchie Summer Service is a pioneering servant ministry. Many of our neighbors in South Carolina live in homes that are in need of repair, and Jesus has called us to love our neighbor. This is an opportunity for all involved to experience Christian servanthood. ARUMC most often sends missionaries to the Salkehatchie Penn Center Camp at St. Helena Island. Salkehatchie Funds are raised through missions donations and after church service luncheons.
Woodmont High School Backpack Program
This program provides students at Woodmont High School bags containing healthy meals to take home over the weekend, when otherwise they might not have enough food. The identified students bring food home for Friday night supper, three meals on Saturday and three meals on Sunday. Our donations of nutritious items suitable for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks ease the hunger of needy students in our community. The Backpack volunteers deliver to Woodmont HS on Thursday for packaging and distribution to students on Friday. Church members are asked to place their donations in the basket in the narthex. We welcome cash donations all year, even when school is closed, to prepare for the next round of purchases. Thank you for your help with this project. We welcome volunteers as well as donations!
Here are some food suggestions:
- Breakfast – Instant Oatmeal or Grits, Individual Cereal Boxes, Cereal Bars
- Lunch – Individual Mac-n-Cheese, Ramen Noodles, Cup-o-Noodles, Tuna Fish
- Dinner – Can Ravioli, Can Soup, Can Chili with Beans, Can Beef Stew
- Snack – Fruit Cups, Pudding Cups, Raisins, Sunflower Seeds, Granola Bars
Christmas Home Repair Mission
In keeping with the holiday spirit of giving and serving, ARUMC reaches out to the local community each year to assist with home repair projects. These needs are identified through local missions, the homeless women’s shelter, members of the community or church members.
Christmas Meals Mission
ARUMC mission groups provide Christmas meals for approximately 60 families who otherwise might not have a traditional holiday meal (turkey dinner with fixings and dessert). Recipients are Greenville County schools families from the Riley Child Development Center, Ellen Woodside Elementary, Sue Cleveland Elementary, Woodmont Middle and Woodmont High.
